My first post of my second blog! Very exciting!
I have (and I am sure most of you have too) noticed the latest trend of floral and pastels.
My sister is a chef, and she taught me how to make these delicious looking flowers. She uses it to decorate cakes (out of sugar icing, not with clay like me, of course) and I use them to decorate myself!
Ingredients
Polymer Clay – available at all stationary and art stores
Blade
Oil – I used Canola Oil
Glue Gun
Jewelry – I bought rings, earrings and brooches from my local bead shop.
Step 1: Make the clay you want to use soft
Use your blade to use cut a piece of the clay. I used a third of the clay to make 5 flowers.
With the blade, chop the clay up into little pieces.
Rub a bit of oil onto the chopped clay. The oil will make the clay soft. If you use too much oil the clay will be too sticky to use.
Knead the clay until it is easy to manipulate
Step 2 – Make the flower
Make pea-size ball out. Each ball will be a petal, so use your own discretion whether your rose needs more or less petals. 12 petals worked best for me.
Press the balls flat and as thin as possible. They do not need to be perfect circles.
Take the smallest circle and roll it up. This will form the base of your rose.
Take another circle and wrap it around the base. You will see that it starts to look like a rose.
Continue wrapping the circles around the base, with each petal overlapping the previous one.
With the last 5 petals, wrinkle the edges a little. This will make the flower seem more natural.
Create a flat base of the flower by cutting the “stem” off with the blade, and place it in a baking tray. Bake the flowers in the oven (130o C) for 15 minutes. Follow the baking instructions on your clay packet.
Step 3: Glue the flowers
Glue the flowers once the are cool. You can glue it to anything your heart desires, be it jewelry, magnets, pets etc.
Shoot the glue onto the flat surface of your objects, and apply the flowers soon after. The glue dries quickly.
I made earrings, brooches and rings

Stunning you going to sell them?
Haha, no I’m not selling them. The blog’s purpose is not to make a quick buck, but to show people how to create it themselves

I’ve been trying to make these since yesterday & just read that too much oil makes it sticky which was my problem. -sigh- LOL
