When you hear/read glitter shoes you either think about Dorothy that wants to go home, or strippers. But glitter shoes are trending this season. Jimmy Choo and {the love of my feet’s life} Christian Louboutin are fans of the glitter shoe too. And anything Mr. Louboutin like, I like!
- What you’ll need:
- Shoes, duh!
- Modge Podge
- Varnish that dries clear
- Glitter!
- Ribbon
- Glue gun
- Step 1: Mix some of the glitter with some of about 4T of modge podge.
I mixed silver and bronze glitter together to create a champagne colour. That’s the beauty of DIY, you get what you want!

- Step 2: Paint the modge podge on your shoe in thin layers. I painted 3 layers.
Wait for the layers to dry completely before applying a new layer. Note that the white modge podge dries clear, so the result will be much darker than the application process.
Step 3: When the modge podge is completely dry, varnish the shoes. This keeps the glitter in place and keeps your cupboard from becoming a vampire.
The varnish dries clear. If you chose, you can stop here. These shoes are ready to be worn, baby.
- Final step: Decorate. If you have heels, paint the soles red. Glue ribbon on. Make it pretty the way your heart desires. Me? I like me some ribbon {if you haven’t noticed
}
I glued the ribbon with my best friend, Mr. Glue Gun
And a masterpiece
my feet are so happy when they are dressed beautifully.

I ♥ them going to make them with red glitter so I channel my inner Dorothy!
thank you! *happy dance* please send me picture if you do. I would love to see how they come out
So totally cute! I was looking online to find out how to make glitter shoes for my daughter’s Dorothy costume for halloween (I know, early right?), but I’m sewing her costume, I can’t decide on Glinda or Wicked Witch for myself, my husband will be Tin Man (he’s a mechanic! hilarious!) and my son is borrowing a lion costume for my s-i-l. After I do her shoes, I’m thinking I might need a pair (or two…) for myself!
These are gorgeous! Im gettin a pair of the sparkly Louboutins this year but these are fab-well done!
these are adorable! definitely planning on making my own pair soon!
