There is nothing ugly about a ribbon in hair

Follow these easy steps to add that extra sparkle to your head. The nice thing about this tutorial: you don’t damage the ribbon, so it’s easily reusabble after the wear.

  • What you’ll need

  1. A piece of ribbon – this piece is 1m long
  2. 2x hair elastics – one small and one big

  • Step 1: Fold the ribbon so that one end is twice as long as the other.

Step 2: Fold the ribbon into a concertina. If you struggle with this step, try this tutorial.

  1. Start with folding the ribbon into a 45 degree angle
  2. Take the bottom part of the ribbon, and through it over, and hold down. Repeat this step.

  • Step 3: While pinching the top and bottom ribbons, pull the shorter end out slowly to develop the flower.

  • Step 4: Tie the small hair elastic around the flower to secure it.

  • Step 5: Measure the ribbon around your head, and tie the remaining pieces to the bigger hair elastic.

  • Step 5: Put the head band on your head to rock this easy-to-do accessory!

Wool necklace

  • What you’ll need:

  1. Wool – 3 different (matching) colours
  2. 2 x chains. One w=must be shorter than the other. I used chains where the one was 6 links shorter.
  • Step 1: Take a long piece of wool, fold it in half and tie it to the first link in the chain. One of the chains will have two wool colours. Tape the wool down for an easier, controlled technique.

  • Step 2: On the side with 2 colours, take one colour and thread it through the next available link in the other chain.

  • Step 3: On the side with two colours, take the colour top colour, and thread it through the next available link in the other chain. Repeat this.

  • Step 4: Because the one chain is shorter, 6 some of the links in the shorter chain must have two colours through. These links can be spread out on the chain.

*Hint: Mark the number of links you have double threaded. This way you make sure that you do not thread too little or too many links. My short chain is 6 links shorter, so I need to double thread 6 links.

  • Step 5: Once you have threaded the entire chain, tie a knot for each colour.

  • Step 6: Braid the ends of both side of the chain, and end it with a big knot.

And the result is a beautiful braided wool necklace, that is the perfect accessory for winter.

Pretty shoes make me happy… Especially Christian Louboutin shoes!

If you are like me, a total shoe whore, you would understand my love and appreciation for the perfect shoe.

During every red carpet event I obsess more over the shoes and accessories than the dress (or skeleton wearing it). Reason: the dress is the easy part, it is the combination of perfect shoes and accessories that defines a true stylista. And if one chooses the always pretty-pretty Louboutin, like Olivia Wilde at the Golden Globes, one can never go wrong.

Unfortunately, my tiny salary only allows me to dream about my red sole soul-mate, so here is a tutorial on making your shoes just so much more of a **shoe**

  • What you’ll need

  1. Heels.  Think platform. Think 5 inch heel. Think proper stripper shoes – without the glass sole of course.
  2. White ribbon. I used the non-shiny type.
  3. Sparkly buttons
  4. Sellotape. Lots of sellotape.
  5. Red spray paint
  6. Glue gun. The best invention since the Pill.
  • Step 1: To make sure you only get the sole red, tape the whole entire shoe and leave the sole open.

  • Step 2: Spray paint the shoe. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area. Spray 2 coats if you see fit.

  • Step 3: When the paint is dry, take off the tape. You can stop here if you like. The shoes look pretty rad already.

  • Step 4: Cut the ribbon in half. in the middle of each half, sew the sparkly jeweled button.

  • Step 5: With the hot glue, start in the middle and glue the ribbon and button to the shoe.

Step 6: Cut the excess ribbon off, and burn the edges so prevent unraveling.

Tada! Million dollar (looking) shoes

Now, will someone please invite me to red carpet event so that I can wear these puppies. That is all, thank you.
