I have a big family wedding on Friday, and have been to the spa recently for a body polish treatment. A body polish, for you who don’t know, is a a very fancy term for a scrub. You pay an arm-and-a-leg to be exfoliated by an unattractive stranger. While being rubbed, I couldn’t help myself, and tasted the scrub they used ( I convinced myself that a ml of chemicals will not kill me, plus they claimed they used all natural products) and to my horror all I tasted was brown sugar. The results of the treatment was surprisingly wonderful, my skin felt smooth and had a nice glow to it. This is perfect for winter skin!
You can create your own At Home Spa Body Polish with the following ingredients:
- Brown Sugar: using brown sugar as the key ingredients have many benefits because not only does it exfoliate (removing dead skin cells and improving circulation) but sugar has glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid that keeps skin healthy. It moisturizes and conditions the skin while protecting it from the harmful effects of toxins. Using a brown sugar scrub improves your skin’s ability to keep its natural moisture balance. (more benefits here)
- Olive Oil: There are a variety of antioxidants in olive oil including Vitamin A and E but the most vital compound is hydroxytyrosol. Hydroxytyrosol is a very rare antioxidant found that prevents free radical damage on skin cells. This compound also absorbs deeply into the skin and is suitable for all skin types. For this reason, olive oil has very potent anti-inflammatory properties
- Honey: Honey is a natural antioxidant and has anti-microbial properties that help protect the skin from sun damage, supports the skin’s ability to rejuvenate and refresh depleted skin, leaving it feeling silky soft and supple
